In only a few short days since signing her nomination papers Sarah Thomson has raised her profile in the hotly contested Toronto mayoral race with a new Forum Research poll placing her in the top five candidates ahead of David Soknacki. The poll also put Thomson in fourth place ahead of both Soknacki and Councillor Karen Stintz in Toronto core and East York.
The numbers showed a dramatic drop for former Progressive Conservative leader and radio host John Tory leaving him at only 18.8% support with Olivia Chow at 32.25% and Rob Ford cleaning up at 35.1%.
“While we have just entered the race, I feel in good standing,” said Thomson in a press release on Monday. “The poll shows that we are in 5th position and have a lot of room to grow. We are well organized, and have funding in place to carry through for the next 8 months. I look forward to talking about real ideas and real solutions for the challenges facing our great city. ”
The total sample size of the poll was 1069 with a margin of error plus or minus 3%.
